The ‘Serre Chevalier Granfondo’ bike race is open to everyone and will take place on Sunday 15 July 2018 in Serre Chevalier Vallée. The organisational structure is based around the Briançon-Serre Chevalier ASPTT sports club and its 280 volunteers. It enjoys the logistical support of the towns and villages of St Chaffrey, La Salle les Alpes, Le Monêtier les Bains, and Briançon, together with the French and Italian Police, and the Hautes-Alpes departmental and the PACA regional authorities. We would like to thank all the Hautes-Alpes communes involved as well as the Italian towns and villages of Susa, Clavière, Oulx, Bardonecchia, Salbertrand, Exilles, Chiomonte, Gravere, Meana di Susa, Usseaux, Pragelato, Fenestrelle, Sestriere, Sauze di Cesana and Cesana Torinese for their help in the success of this bike race.
Roads reserved for competitors
To ensure the smooth running of the race, several sections of road will be closed to cars. These include the stages through Briançon, the Clarée valley, the Col de l’Echelle and the descent to Bardonecchia, the Oulx and Cesana Torinese sections, the Colle delle Finestre with the descent to Balboutet, and the descent to Sauze di Cesana… A number of volunteers plus volunteers with motorbikes and the Italian Police will be on hand to ensure that cyclists can race in complete safety along virtually the entire length of the routes chosen for the 21st race in the event’s history.
